Dr. Veronica Flores

Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Flores grew up in the coastal town of Watsonville, California and was active in the 4H program. Showing her dog, rabbits, lambs, pigs, and horse sparked her love of animals and passion for their care!Veronica attended the University of California Davis to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. After graduation, she worked in the biomedical industry for a summer, then traveled to New Zealand and Australia in work-study programs. Upon returning to the States, she attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Caribbean for her DVM, then completed her clinical year at Oklahoma State University before settling in Texas with her husband.Dr. Flores’s professional interests include pet wellness, reproduction, and production health medicine. She also likes the educational process and sharing her knowledge with families. Veronica says she loves interacting with pet owners—a different breed in and of themselves! At home, Dr. Flores lives with her husband Travis and many pets. They have Rose a miniature dachshund, Hawkeye a Golden Retriver cross and three cats: Stimpy, Remmie, and Bailey. Dr. Flores also has five horses: Dusty, Meredith, Maverick, Tizzy, and Sonny, as well as Mortimer the 20-pound tortoise and Bill and Wanda the ducks.In her spare time, Dr. Flores raises chickens, goes hunting with her husband, and also enjoys barrel racing with her horses.

Travis Alewine

Owner, Maintenance
Travis is Dr. Flores’s husband and serves as part-owner, maintenance man, groundskeeper, and occasional technician around the clinic. In addition to his duties at Texas West Animal Hospital, he works as a State Trooper for the Texas Department of Public Safety.Born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, Travis graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science Biotechnology. He was brought into the veterinary profession by his wife, and it is his goal to support her at all times. He occasionally goes on large animal calls with her and helps birth calves—he says his wife is pretty strong, but a little extra muscle doesn’t hurt on those difficult pulls!Between work, family, and his and Dr. Flores’s various pets, Travis enjoys sports-related hobbies and outdoor activities. He likes riding his dirt bike and has raced motocross and cross-country. When he was 15 he was the State Champion in the Texas Enduro Championship Circuit!

Rachel Ground

Office Manager

Rachel has been with the clinic since it first opened in October 2014.  She has lived in Mineral Wells for several years with her husband and three girls.  Besides working at the clinic, Rachel coaches basketball, runs her girls to various tournaments and rescues Labrador Retrievers.  Ever the busy woman Rachel makes time for everyone in her life and still manages to keep the office rolling smoothly!


Lacey Noe

Veterinary Technician

Lacey has been with the clinic nearly since it was opened in 2014.  Lacey lives in Gordon with her husband and daughter.  Her hobbies include, raising Red Brahman cattle, roping and spending time with her family.  Lacey loves that being a veterinary technician means no day is ever the same, but she enjoys the cattle work the most!
